FARO CAR HIRE PORTUGAL - News
Ryanair new Lisbon Faro route
Starting on 1 April, there will be ten flights a week, at least once a day, between Faro and the Portuguese capital, while connections between Oporto and Lisbon will take place five times a week.
Portugal representative for the Irish airline Luis Fernández-Mellado said in a statement that in addition to the flights linking Lisbon with the north and the south of the country, that an extra flight has also been included on the Oporto-Faro route.
This comes after Ryanair made Portela its third base in Portugal.
With its promised expansion in April, Ryanair will have invested close to $90 million in Lisbon, from where it operates nine routes and 124 flights, carrying 900,000 passengers a year to and from the Portuguese capital and creating some 900 jobs.
The Irish airline has recently ordered 175 new aircraft which it says will “provide the capacity, new markets and low fares that Portuguese consumers and visitors demand”, adding that the airline is “excited to be working with Lisbon airport to explore the vast potential that is currently blocked by the high costs of air access.”
There will be more competition on domestic routes after low cost airline Ryanair this week unveiled two new routes within Portuguese borders.
