Algarve Classic Festival 2016

Since its opening in 2009, Autodromo Internacional do Algarve organizes a fantastic international event in October, totally dedicated to Classic Cars.

The Algarve Classic Festival (ACF), taking place on the finals of October every year, is already referred to within Europe as one of the largest events of its kind. The festival will host 11 European Classic Championships, which will attract the best cars and drivers of the speciality to the Portimão Circuit.

The Algarve Classic Festival presents a very attractive concept for all gentlemen drivers, offering one of the best routes in the world, with modern and safe installations for cars and drivers. All this combined with traditional good Algarve weather, at a time of year when the rest of Europe is already in the middle of winter.

The 2016 edition, which ran from October 28 to 30, included racing with three Motor Racing Legends competitions, the HTCC (for touring cars from 1972 to 1985), the RAC Woodcote Trophy (for pre-1956 sports cars ), And the Stirling Moss Trophy (for pre-1961 sports cars) as well as GT & Sports Car cup events (for pre-1966 GT).

The Iberian Historic Festival joins GT and passenger cars until 1976, and the National Championship of Classics and Legends Cup will have combined races. The Single Seater Series and the Classic Super Stock will also be present, with CSS running alongside the English on the HTCC. The Super Seven by KIA gives a more professional touch to the national team pilots. The AIA and Race Ready have run on no less than 300 cars and 500 riders from 25 countries.

Once again, motor sport lovers had the opportunity to see the Classic Endurance Racing machines on the track, where rare and beloved Portuguese cars such as Lola T280, Chevron B31, Lola T70, BMW M1, Porsche 935 Other prototypes of the former World Championship of Marks, as well as pilots, Portuguese and many other nationalities that are part of the automotive history of their countries.

This year it was still possible to appreciate the old Formula 1, which gave the public the opportunity to relive a Formula 1 Pre-1966 race and also a race exclusively dedicated to the legendary Lotus Super Seven, introduced in 2015 and celebrating the 60th anniversary of this iconic car.
